BS EN 12331-2021 pdf free download.Food processing machinery – Mincing machines – Safety and hygiene requirements.
4.3.3 ON- and OFF-switch
On machines, ON- and OFF-switches shall be provided. The switches shall be arranged on each workstation. The ON-switch shall be protected against unintentional switch-on (e.g. protective collar).
4.3.4 Safety requirements related to electromagnetic phenomena
The machines shall have sufficient immunity from electromagnetic disturbances to enable them to operate safely as intended and not fail to danger when exposed to the levels and types of disturbances intended by the manufacturer.
The manufacturer of the machines shall design, install and wire the equipment and sub-assemblies taking into account the instructions of the suppliers of these sub-assemblies.
4.4 Stability of the machine
4.4.1 General
Machines shall be designed not to tilt, slip, or fall over under the most unfavourable operating conditions.
The instruction handbook shall give details of the foundation load and the type of floor fixing, or, for machines which are not fixed to the ground, the ground load and recommended surfaces (see 6.2 b)).
Machines which are not fixed to the ground shall not start tilting or slipping at their location. This shall be calculated or tested under the following conditions:
— the machine is placed on a plane inclined 100 to the horizontal;
— the machine is positioned in the most unfavourable direction relative to the incline;
— the machine is loaded with 110% of the maximum load specified by the manufacturer;
— mobile machines shall be fitted with castors with a brake and the brakes are locked and the castors shall be in the most unfavourable position.
4.4.2 Additional requirements for machines with loading devices
4.4.2.1 General
Loading devices shall be designed not to tilt, slip, or fall over under the most unfavourable operating conditions.
The loading devices can be mounted to the machine or can he free-standing.
When the loading device is mounted on the machine, the follwing shall be tested or calculated for the entire installation.
When the loading device is not mounted to the machinery, the following shall be tested or calculated only for the loading device itself and the for the machinery in accordance with 4.4.1.
4.4.2.2 Stability test
The stability shall be tested or calculated under the following conditions:
— the machine or entire installation is placed in a horizontal position;
— a mobile loading device shall be fitted with castors with a brake and the brakes are locked and the castors shall be in the most unfavourable position for tilting;
— the container of the loading device is loaded with 110% of the maximum load specified by the manufacturer and is lifted to the most unfavourable position just before bowl tipping;
— the loading device is subjected to a horizontal force at half height of the loading device, in the most unfavourable direction, where the force is at least 50 % of the weight of the loading device but shall not exceed 600 N.
As a result of the stability test the machine shall not tilt or fall over.
4.4.2.3 Static test
The static shall be tested or calculated under the following conditions:
— the container is loaded with 150 % of the maximum load specified by the manufacturer;
— the container is lifted to the position just before bowl tipping;
— the test duration shall be at least one hour;
— the bowl tipping position shall not alter;
— a lowering of < 10 cm/h is permissible.
4.4.2.4 Dynamic test
The dynamic shall be tested or calculated under the following conditions:
— the loading device is loaded with 110% of the maximum load specified by the manufacturer;
— three complete raising and lowering movements shall be carried out without discharging the container;
— the movements shall be carried out at maximum speed.
After the third cycle the loading device shall stop the lowering of the container at its highest speed within < 200 mm.
4.5 Noise reduction
When designing machines covered by this standard, information on technical measures to control noise at source given in EN ISO 11688-1:2009 shall be taken into account.
The most important cause for generation of airborne sound at a industrial machine with open feed intake is crushing of blocks of frozen product which causes the machine surfaces to radiate noise.
The success of the applied noise reduction measures is assessed on the basis of the actual noise emission values (see Clause 5 and Annex A) in relation to other machines of the same family.BS EN 12331 pdf download.
